Have been diagnosed as pre diabetic does this cause impotence and depression?

I am getting very depressed and feel like my relationship is failing due to impotence. I feel i dont love my partner because I cant get erect. I had a glucose tolerance test and they said I am pre diabetic. Was wondering does that cause depression and impotence. I have been in my new job for 3 months and its stressful but am at my wits end as what to do. Have started taking zoloft but feel awful.

Zoloft wont start to work for at least 2 weeks, it takes time to build up in your system. Once you start to feel better don’t stop taking it! you have to be consistent. GO TO THE DOCTOR FOR THE IMPOTENCE!

prediabetes will not cause impotence. That is a side affect of uncontrolled diabetes.

chances are, with the stressful job and the antidepressant, that is the cause of your impotence (both stress and antidepressants have that affect). Depression, too, can cause it.

stress alone can cause depression, and being diagnosed prediabetic can contribute to that, as well. Worry over the impotence isnt helping.

There is more to love than sex, and there are prescription and over the counter aids for impotence (Rejoyn makes several products).

Talk to your doctor.

There have been studies that show nerve damage can happen at pre diabetic levels and by combining that with the stress of work yes it could be a factor. See your doctor and have a frank talk with him. Also please consider some couples therapy to deal with the love issue.

pre diabetes shouldn’t cause anything because it is not a disease or a condition. It’s just your doctor’s way of saying that you are at risk of developing diabetes is you don’t make some changes in your diet and lifestyle. Your depression may cause impotence. Hopefully, you are receiving therapy in addition to medication. The pills can only do so much. You need to understand the root of your depression.
