What they meant by no sexual intercourse for 3 weeks was that he isn't suppose to ejaculate for 3 weeks. This was a delicate and expensive operation connecting tubing that is the size of a raw piece of spaghetti in diameter. Also, if sperm leaks between the stitches it can irritate the tissue and cause scarring which could easily block the vas defernes at the point of reconnection. That would cause the reversal to fail.

Three weeks. You must give the new connection time to heal. He should have been given detailed instructions to follow.

Follow them to the letter.

Do not risk the surgery again. It is expensive and painful.

He has to be careful because of the internal stitches that are placed during vasectomy reversal. Please wait the required three weeks. It gives the area time to heal and any swelling time to resolve. Further "trauma" to the area could slow the healing process.
